No injuries were reported in a structure fire which occurred in Rolling Hills around noon April 4, Easter Sunday, according to Glenrock Volunteer Fire Department Chief Shon Lindsey.

The fire took place at a shop/garage on South Coyote Road and caused cosmetic damage to the structure.

“The fire started from an electric cord on a meat smoker. There were cosmetic damages to the outside of the building. A tire blew out on one of the vehicles there,” causing an “explosion” which people nearby heard and reported.

“The crews did a fantastic job and kept the damage to the minimum possible,” he said.

Rolling Hills Station No. 2 and GVFD crews responded to the fire and stayed on the scene for about four hours through investigation and cleanup.

GVFD covers firefighting and emergency response for just less than half of Converse County, from the Natrona/Converse line to the Ayres Natural Bridge exit on I-25, Lindsey said.
