Library News, July 6, 2022

It’s July, and America’s Birthday Month, is upon us! Take a break from those hot days and step into your cool Converse County Library for books, movies, computer surfing and all of our summer reading activities.
We have fun for all ages with our “Oceans of Possibilities” Summer Reading program. It’s not too late to sign up and start logging to win great prizes, make new friends and learn new skills. If you’re stuck high and dry on the beach, dive on in and register at www.yourccl.beanstack.org for a whole ocean of possibilities!
Tonight, (July 6), we have a countywide Book & Brew meeting at Ayres Natural Bridge Park. We will gather at 6 p.m. for our book discussion of Jodi Picoult’s bestselling novel, Songs of the Humpback Whale.
Members may bring snacks to share. This group meets once per month to catch up with friends and talk about books. If you’re interested in joining the book club, join us this evening! Or, check out how to contact us at the end of this article.
There will be an Adult Craft Class July 7 in the MakerSpace from 6-8 p.m. We will be learning to needle felt mermaids, again in keeping with the summer reading program theme. This class is free and materials will be provided. If you already have needle felting tools, please bring them along. For planning purposes, please register in advance.
Next up this week is an author appearance by Cynthia Galey Peck, with her new memoir, Wyoming Ranch Girl: A Journey Seeking Respect, Security and Solace.” Please meet this author at your CCL Glenrock July 9 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, or at the CCL Douglas from 2-3 p.m.
Highlighted activities for adults this month include a Zoom class from Petco on how to set up an aquarium, “School of Fish,” July 14; a Party Like a Pirate Mixology Class July 18; a “British Invasion” concert with acclaimed guitarist Joey Leone and his band at Natural Bridge July 20, and a Snorkeling Class at the Glenrock Middle School pool, thanks to Casper’s Western Divers, July 25.
Monthly adult events include Cross Stitch Class July 11 from 2-4 p.m. and the ever-popular Cookbook Club on the same date at 6:30 p.m. in the Glenrock Town Park. The theme for Cookbook Club this month is: Seafood Feast! The Gratitude Group will meet via Zoom July 13 to discuss our Simple Abundance Companion book, as well as our summer read, “Gift from the Sea” by Anne Morrow Lindbergh.
