Herders defeat Powell in Battle of the Big Horns
The Glenrock wrestling squad defeated Powell 33-24 in the Battle of the Big Horns at Worland on Dec. 18, though they lost their duals against Lovell and Pinedale.
The Herders were defeated handily by Lovell, 72-12, and were pounced by Pinedale 48-24.
But against Powell, Glenrock’s varsity and junior varsity wrestlers alike achieved numerous victories.
Varsity wrestlers Talon Granaas, Paxton Piasecki, Dustin Simmons, Corden Phillips and Lane Raney, as well as JV wrestlers Alex Cerny, Dusty Cox and Andrik Moreno, all won their matches against the Powell wrestlers.
The team’s performance at the Worland duals continue what has so far been an oscillating series of wins and lossses for the Herd, which has included successes against Buffalo, Thermopolis and Wheatland, but losses against Douglas and Niobrara County High School in Lusk.
Glenrock is next scheduled to face off against Sundance on Jan. 9 at Sundance.
