Even though Fall is fast-approaching, there are still many warm days ahead.

Your CCL wants to reassure you that our HVAC system has been back up and running for some time, and we are “totally cool” again! We have heard that some folks were hesitant to come back in and want to reassure everyone that all is good on the temperature scale at our library these days!

STORYTIME

For families, we want to announce that our popular Storytime sessions for kids will resume at the library on Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 10-11 a.m. Sept. 10. The first session will be a fun book and craft celebrating International Teddy Bear Day (which falls on Sept. 9 in case you want to celebrate at home).

The storytime theme this year will be special days and holidays throughout the year, so you’ll want to catch them all!

Also, while the weather holds, be sure to take advantage of our StoryWalk installation in Town Park, along the Creekside path. The book displayed currently is “Woolbur” by Leslie Helakoski (illustrated by Lee Harper).

This charming tale introduces Woolbur, who, according to the publisher, “. . . Is a free-spirited, fluffy, one-of-a-kind sheep (and he) knows the most important accessories are confidence and fearlessness.”

BOARD MEETING

This week, the Converse County Library Board will meet in the Glenrock Library Meeting Hall on Thursday, Aug. 28 at 9:30 am.

There may be an open position on the board and we are looking for an interested party from Glenrock who loves our library to apply.

See our webpage at yourccl.org for more information. In addition, both Converse County libraries will open late on Friday, Aug. 29, due to an all-staff meeting that morning. Douglas will open at 11 a.m., and Glenrock will open at noon on that day.

WE’RE HERE TO

HELP YOU

Don’t forget that your CCL has wonderful books, magazines, audiobooks, movies, computers, and databases for your use, but we offer much more!

We have Wyoming State Park Passes to loan, wi-fi hotspots, the Library of Things, a seed library, and a food pantry open to anyone who is in need.

We are here to help with faxes, copies, laminating, and notary public services. We offer several sizes of meeting rooms, including our Meeting Hall, for reservation.

Also, our popular Prom Closet will be open again in Sept. for homecoming attire. We have free dresses, shoes, menswear and more for anyone from Douglas, Glenrock and Casper to shop.

We also accept donations of clean, gently worn contemporary formal and semi-formal wear for males and females. Ask a librarian for help with any of our services, and for the Prom Closet, ask for Chelsea, our Teen Librarian.

CLOSED LABOR DAY

Your library will be closed on Monday, Sept. 1 for the Labor Day holiday. We wish everyone a happy and safe weekend. We will be open regular hours Saturday, Aug. 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Otherwise we are open M, T, W, F from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays as above, and closed on Sundays.

ADULTS

There is an Adult Teddy Bear Book Folding class Sept. 4 from 6-8 p.m. (free) to create a charming bear; and a family-friendly Full Moon Hike Sept. 5, with a meetup at the library parking lot at 7:30 p.m. We will hope for a clear sky for our hike up off of Boxelder Road.

You can always find detailed information on the activities and events for all ages at the library through our website at yourccl.org or our Glenrock Library Facebook page, the weekly ad in this newspaper, and the printed calendar available at the service points.

Our weekly quote is about bookstores, but it applies to libraries as well: “Leaving any bookstore is hard especially on a day in August when the street outside burns and glares, and the books inside are cool and crisp to the touch,”– Jane Smiley
