Converse County Library Glenrock is happy to report that we’re back up and running after our double-whammy of our heating system outage and a COVID-19 exposure early this year. We’re back to being germ-free and ready to serve our delightful patrons.

If you’ve had issues downloading book titles from Overdrive/Libby, the situation should be resolved. Feel free to bring your device in and we can help to get you back online. We are working to set up a more formal system to schedule one-on-one appointments for people to get individual help with their new or existing smart phones, Kindles, iPads, laptops and more.

We will even be offering help in navigating the library’s databases and catalogue systems if needed. Watch for more information on that process in the coming weeks.

Your CCL is resuming regularly scheduled events such as Wednesday Storytime online from 10-11 a.m., Teen Game Nights on Thursdays from 6-8 p.m., and Dungeon ‘n’ Dragon meet ups Fridays from 4-7 p.m.

There are DIY crafts available for kids to take home weekly, as well as Storytime on Demand for individual families with Miss Rita Tuesdays-Saturdays. There is a full schedule of events listed each week in the Glenrock Independent and the Douglas Budget newspapers.

Adult events this month include a Snowman Sensation Wreath crafting class via Zoom on Jan. 21 from 6-8 p.m. The deadline for this class is over,;however, interested parties may contact Tamara at the library to see if any craft kits are available. The class is free.

For anyone who is tired of being cooped up at home and yearns for some social interaction and fun with friends, there is an Adult Game Night on Zoom scheduled for Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. Please register by Jan. 22 to receive your invitation. Options for games include online versions of Cards Against Humanity (family version) or Scattergories, or possibly a modified version of Battle of the Sexes or Cowgirls Ride the Trail of Truth.

Converse County Libraries will be holding a monthly Gratitude Journaling workshop using Sarah Ban Breathnach’s book, “Simple Abundance.” We will have our first meeting via Zoom Jan. 27 from 6-8 p.m. This class will discuss self-empowering tactics and ways to bring more joy, love and feelings of gratitude into our lives this year. Register no later than Jan. 25.

We are so sorry that we’ve had to be closed so much this month! The staff has put together a display of our favorite reads from 2020 if you’d like to browse those titles when you come in. One classic that just might be the perfect one to curl up with in January, is the subject of our quote of the week:

“It snowed and snowed, the whole world over; snow swept the world from end to end. A candle burned on the table; a candle burned.” – Boris Pasternak, Dr. Zhivago.
