WHAT WE’RE UP TO

We’re developing take-home kits for crafting and learning activities such as STEAM educational tools.

We’re planning “Storytime on Demand,” where families may request Miss Rita Heath or another staff member to read them a story in their small group. Children will need to have masks and distance themselves by at least six feet, unless in a family group.

Teens are mostly meeting outside for their various weekly events, game nights on Thursdays, book club, D&D meet-ups, crafts and DIY, etc.

WOMEN’S RIGHTS TO VOTE

Aug. 18 marked 100 years since women won the right to vote in our country. Aug. 26 is National Women’s Equality Day.

To mark the event, our libraries are developing a quilt square project. We’ll provide a size, color-scheme and theme for the quilt squares.

We’ll run the contest through Nov. 3. The public will be able to vote on their favorite squares. Then, we’ll put the quilt together and donate it to the Converse County Hope Center to raffle off.

ADULT ACTIVITIES

We have a countywide Full Moon Hike on Sept. 3. We’ll meet right inside the turnoff to the Dave Johnston power plant at 7:30 p.m. and proceed up the mountain to our starting point on Boxelder Canyon Road. Please sign up with the library.

There will be a live concert in the courtyard Sept. 9 at 6:30 p.m. with Jerry Barlow, a Colorado musician who is a master of the very complicated Celtic finger-style guitar. Barlow is a renowned storyteller as well. The concert is free and open to all.

The Glenrock Book & Brew Club will have a meeting in tandem with the Douglas Club on Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. at Ayres Natural Bridge Park. The library will provide chicken. Members should bring picnic dishes to share. Following our discussion of Stardust by Neil Gaiman we will watch the film.

A PARANORMAL PARTY

Sept. 14 we have a special event in the Higgins Hotel dining room. Paranormal Adventurer Curt Strutz will present a program on haunted locations across the U.S. called “Visiting the Beyond.” The event is free and open to teens and adults.

The Higgins will offer food & drinks for purchase.

If you would like to be involved in any of the above listed events, please contact Tamara at 436-2573
