The 2022-2023 high school sports action officially started with the shortest season of them all last week at the Glenrock Invitational golf tournament. The Herders didn’t miss the chance to make a little early noise as they were victorious on their hometown turf.

The GHS boys were impressive in their debut by finishing in a pack. They had three standouts finish in the top 15 and the entire roster was solid en route to winning the first event of the year.

Glenrock finished with a team score of 407 to capture first place by two strokes ahead of Tongue River at 409.

Leading the way for the Herders was Luke Lythgoe with a spectacular round of 91 to finish 6th overall. He was just 11 strokes back of winner Bridger Bruce of Upton who aced an 80.

GHS’ Max Coulter played a big role in winning the tourney as he putted his way to 8th overall with a season-opening round of 102.

Herder Gavin Thorncock had a good day as well and finished just one stroke behind his teammate as he carded a 103 on the day.

Glenrock’s success was made possible because the team played in a pack. That trend continued as GHS linksters Brady Dona and Donnie Taylor tied at 15th overall with rounds of 111.

Rounding out the talented bunch was Herder Lane Masopust who made the top 20 with a debut round of 126.

Glenrock only had one female compete in the opener. Bailey Mueller represented the Herders and captured 15th overall with a score of 156.

Glenrock returns to action this week with tournaments in Hulett on Monday and then the Big Horn/Tongue River Invite on Friday.
