Jaren Fritz will represent the Glenrock Herders and the Cowboy State at next month’s Wyoming vs. Montana All-Star basketball games. The games are for seniors only and will take place on Friday, June 7 in Sheridan and Saturday, June 8 in Billings, Montana.
The rosters were announced by Sheridan College men’s basketball coach James Ball and women’s basketball coach Ryan Davis.
“I’ve went and watched the Wyoming vs. Montana games every single year with my dad since I was in fifth grade and it’s always been a dream of mine to play in it,” Fritz said. “I feel super proud to be able to represent not only Wyoming, but the community of Glenrock which has been so accepting of me during my first year here.”
Fritz averaged 17.3 points per game during his lone season with the Herders as a senior after moving from Tongue River. He finished third in 2A in that category and second in 2A East. Fritz also finished the season seventh in 2A East averaging 2.9 assists per game.
The recent graduate will share the court in Sheridan and Billings with Tristan Bower (Sheridan), Trase Olson (Campbell County), Colton Larson (Thunder Basin), Davion McAdam (Kelly Walsh), Elijah Leyva (Cody), Erik Oliver (Cheyenne East), Treyton Paxton (Riverton), Danny Gosar (Pinedale) and Lain Mitchelson (Farson-Eden).
The chance to suit up with nine other players from around the state is an honor that means a lot to Fritz and in many ways, is a proper send off to his short time in Glenrock.
“It’s a huge thank you to the people of Glenrock and everything we accomplished this year,” Fritz said. “It feels amazing.”
The girls game tips off at 5:30 p.m. on both days, with the boys game to follow.
