In Converse County this Memorial Weekend it’s CLICK IT OR TICKET

From Monti Allsop, WYDOT Law Enforcement Liaison

As the Memorial Day holiday approaches, Converse County Law Enforcement is reminding all drivers of the importance of seat belt use. The annual Click It or Ticket high-visibility enforcement effort runs from May 20 through June 2, 2019 and is focused on enforcing seat belt use.
Converse County Law Enforcement will be especially active this Memorial Day weekend as officers, deputies and troopers will target those who are not buckling up.
“For Click It or Ticket we’ll be working with law enforcement agencies across our county and state to get the message out,” said Glenrock Police Chief David Theel. “We must emphasize the importance of wearing a seat belt. Wearing your seatbelt is the easiest thing you can do to save your life in a crash and it’s the law. We see the fatal results of not wearing a seat belt all the time. So often, these deaths could have been prevented with the simple click of a seat belt.”
“From 2013 to 2017 in Converse County, we’ve lost 14 people in vehicle crashes who were not buckled up,” said Sheriff Clint Becker. Nationally in 2017, there were 10,076 unbuckled passenger vehicle occupants killed in crashes in the United States.
“If Click It or Ticket wakes people up to the dangers of not wearing a seatbelt, that’s success,” said Douglas Police chief Ron Casalenda. “If you know someone who does not buckle up, please try changing their mind. Seat belts save lives, and all of us need to remember to buckle up—every trip, every time.”
