Alfred ‘Fred’ Graham Jr. 1916-2017

Alfred S. (Fritz, Fred) Graham Jr. died on Feb. 21, 2017, just 4 days before his 101st birthday. He was born in Littleton, Colorado, on Feb. 25, 1916.

He grew up on ranches with his sisters near Steamboat Springs and Walden, Colorado. He graduated from Steamboat Springs High School. During WWII, he was in the the 24th division of the Army and was a 1st Class Staff Sargent as a surgical tech. He was stationed in the Soloman Islands, and served in the Guadalcanal Campaign. He returned to Steamboat Springs in September 1945. When he came back he joined the Masonic Order and the VFW.

He met Dorothea and they married. She had three boys and moved to Glenrock, Wyoming, in 1959, where they had their daughter Ouida. Fritz retired from the Dave Johnson Power Plant and coal mine in 1981. His crew was the first and one of the last to operate the 39 cubic yard dragline.

After retirement, he and Dorothea (Dotty) started traveling with members of the Wally Byam Airstream Club to all 48 states and parts of Mexico and Canada and even to Hawaii. He was a member of Glenrock Masonic Lodge #22 and earned his 32nd degree, of which he was very proud. He and Dorothea were Past Matron and Patron of Golden West Chapter #37. Fritz was preceded in death by his father, mother, eldest sister Jane and wife Dorothea. He is survived by his daughter Ouida and family, sister Alice Bauer, niece Janice Bump and her family and her son Bob Bauer and his family.

Services by The Masonic Lodge #22 and VFW will be on June 3, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Glenrock Cemetery in the Masonic section. A luncheon will follow at the Masonic building. Please make a donation to your favorite charity in place of flowers.
