The Tony Lehner Open is an annual tournament held in Glenrock to raise money for the golf course. Lehner started the golf course in 1988, according to Glenrock Golf Course General Manager Sheila Gilbert.
Gilbert said the tournament was set in his honor for all he has done in the community and for the nine hole course.
Attendance for this year’s golf tournament was about the same as last year, with 24 athletes attending. The athletes all teed off after Lehner took the first swing.
The July 9 tourney was in some of the hottest weather this year, reaching a high of 101 degrees around midday. Though it was a schorcher of a day, the tournament proceeded without a hitch and the athletes appeared to joke and move around as if it were much cooler outside.
Results were unavailable by press time despite multiple attempts to retrieve them.
